Gee, the government does something which happens to be a conservative hallmark, it works, and then it gets suspended.
I'm talking, of course, about the Cash For Clunkers program, which has now been suspended.
The $1 billion program has apparently come close to running out of money because of it's popularity. Imagine that. Putting cash back into people's pockets really gives them an incentive to go out and buy.
Now, what is it that Republicans wanted to do instead of a stimulus? Oh, yeah - lower taxes! Imagine if Americans were able to keep more of their hard-earned money instead of having to give it away to the wasteful government?

But, they don't think it's our money. They think they are entitled to it all.
Under this administration and their Keynesian view of the economy, taxes will surely increase slowly at first and then pick up pace to pay for all of this mess.
They seem to feel we owe them that because they are such great leaders. They seem to think we don't know what we want or what is good for us.
Admiral, during a debate over the stimulus with a liberal, I asked him, "Who knows how to spend your money better than you?" And instead of answering honestly because that would be admitting defeat, he said it was a loaded question. It's sad that they think the gov't really can spend it better than us. =\
bluepitbull, they think they're entitled to it because they think they're royalty (see: Nancy Pelosi). They need to realize they're not, and that'll only happen if they're voted out. And unfortunately for me, taxes will start to really increase right around the time I have to REALLY start paying them (it's not so bad now since I'm a student and work part time, but when I get a real job....)
I can think of a lot better things to do with $4,500 than buy a stupid Prius. Ammo comes to mind.
