As a Roman Catholic, I am particularly offended at what's been happening in Connecticut. Lawmakers tried to usurp the power of bishops and priests. Hello? Separation of Church and State? And this folks, is the
true meaning of that phrase. It is often thought that Separation of Church and State means that laws cannot be influenced by religion. No. It means that the state cannot control any religious institution and no religious institutions can control the state. This is despicable. Christians and the Catholic Church have been under attack for a very long time, but I never thought a state would try and take its power.
